deans-obsession-with-angel-lips:
Okay, so a few days ago I saw a post that had the “Blow me, Cas” scene as gifs and then a very interesting analysis underneath it. You can check it out here. It basically said even though every Destiel fan loves that scene, it has a deeper meaning. Dean was about to say ‘yes’ to Michael here and he wanted Sam, Bobby and Cas to let him. So, in true Dean Winchester style, he decided to mock their weaknesses in order to get them to get fed up with him and give in.
With Bobby he told him, “You’re not my father.” knowing that that would hurt Bobby more than anything else especially after in 4.01 he told him he was “the closest thing to a father” he’d ever had.
With Sam he told him, “I don’t believe in you”
And, finally, with Cas. He chose to mock Castiel’s weakness. He’d been told by Uriel that Castiel’s weakness was that he liked Dean.. He not only mocks Castiel’s crush on him, but also
subtlynot-so-subtly mocks Castiel’s virginity or lack of experience with sex. We can see that Dean almost regrets saying it by the look on his face when he turns back around.I just wanted to point out the other scene in ‘point of no return’ where (after the ‘blow me’ scene) Dean chooses to go further by saying that “the last time someone looked at me like that, I got laid” and then winking at Cas who then looks as if he understands what Dean is trying to do now. He then proceeds to slam the door of the panic room.
Just thought I’d point out the second scene I mentioned as I thought it had relevance. Even though I felt bad for Cas.
‘Point of No Return’ is just such a Destiel episode!
Sorry for this over-analyzing post but I just needed to point that out :P
While I don’t know that I agree that Dean is cognizant enough of Cas’s apparent crush on him to purposefully mock him for it (and not for lack of people telling him so; he just seems to want to push that away whenever it’s brought up, for what I think are obvious reasons), I do find it interesting that the couple of times he lashes out at Cas to get a reaction and make him angry, his barbs are sexual in nature.
